Subjects are the top-level grouping in the academic catalogue. Each subject contains one or more courses, which in turn contain units. In the Full Fabric academic hierarchy: Subject → Course → Unit.

Subjects appear on transcripts as the grouping label for a student's registered courses. They can optionally be associated with a theme.
